This was our last tournament of the season and Zabe’s last junior worlds. To say we pushed ourselves as a family to our limits this summer would be an understatement. Having 2 huge tournaments, back to back, and with temperatures in the mid 90’s, was no easy task. That being said…we came out of this week with a lot of positives towards future success. The golf course (Pinehurst #8) played extremely difficult with only 2 boys, in the entire field of 154 players, finishing under par for the three days. Zabe’s tee to green game was very solid, but never quite got the putter hot, and was unable to score the way he needed, to be a major contender. He was able to finish the week in a tie for 17th (which, don’t get me wrong…is great!). His growth over the last few years has been remarkable and we are very proud of his top 20 finish for the 2nd year in a row. Another positive from the week was that, with his high finish, it qualified him for the Van Horn Cup (a Ryder Cup type format) for the top 20 players in the field. Zabe was chosen to hit the opening tee shot and won his match, with partner Lucas Laffoon, which helped secure a win for his team. It was a great conclusion to the season, as well as a fitting way to wrap up Zabe’s final Junior Worlds experience. Hard to believe that next year we will have 2 boys in Teen Worlds…they are growing so fast as players and young men. Thanks for everyone’s continued support!
