The 2021 Carolinas State Invitational got off to a strong start on Saturday with Zabe finishing his first round with a solid 3 under par (69), and yet still 5 strokes off the lead, held by Davis Wotnosky, finishing his first round with an impressive 8 under par (64). Zabe really gave it a great run on Sunday, building momentum and closing the gap to within one stroke several times, but Davis was able to make some late birdies and Zabe’s run at back-to-back State wins came up just a bit shy. He closed with a 2 under par (70) final round, and a 2 day total of 5 under par. Zabe was the only competitor in his age range to shoot under par both days and it was enough to earn him a runner-up finish. (Not a bad finish for the defending 2020 Champion!) Great job, Zabe!
